How Long Will a Power Station Run Starlink?
By Hicham M. · Updated October 11, 2026 · How we calculate
Starlink publishes its own power figures. A Starlink Standard kit averages 75–100 W measured at the wall, router included; we use 90 W. That’s about 9.4 hours on a 1,000 Wh power station and 19 hours on a 2,000 Wh one.
The Starlink Mini averages 25–40 W, about a third as much, and it can run on DC power with no inverter at all, which stretches the battery a little further.
Runtime by power station

Every Starlink kit on one battery
| Kit | Average | Idle | On 1,000 Wh | On 2,000 Wh |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mini | 25–40 W | 15 W | 26 hours | 2.2 days |
| Standard Actuated | 50–75 W | 20 W | 14 hours | 27 hours |
| Standard | 75–100 W | 20 W | 9.4 hours | 19 hours |
| Performance | 110–150 W | 45 W | 6.5 hours | 13 hours |
Starlink’s figures, measured at the AC input and including the router, power supply and cables. Runtimes use the middle of each range (our 90 W for the Standard) and 85% inverter efficiency, so the Mini on DC does a little better than shown.
Skipping the inverter
The Mini takes 12–48 V DC, or USB-C Power Delivery rated at least 100 W (20 V, 5 A). Starlink says it won’t work on USB-C ports rated 65 W or less, so check your station’s USB-C rating first. For the Standard, Starlink sells a DC-DC power supply that runs from 12–48 V, “removing the need for an inverter” when you power it from a battery.
Keeping it online longer
- Turn snow melt to Off unless you need it. Starlink says the pre-heat setting may increase power use.
- Count the idle draw: even doing nothing, a Standard kit uses about 20 W. Unplug it overnight if you don’t need it.
- Add your laptop and phones in the runtime calculator for a realistic total.
